'IVF can be a viable path to parenthood'

Over the past few decades, there has been a major shift in the pattern of Childbirth, notes Dr Anita Gupta. She adds, "Women are increasingly opting to get pregnant later, due to their careers or late marriage. Although, planning for a baby after the age of 35 presents its own set of challenges, with proper knowledge and guidance, it can
still be a positive journey."
She adds, "One of the initial challenges women may encounter is the possibility of difficulty conceiving naturally. Women have two ovaries located close to the uterus, which form eggs. These are fertilised with sperm to form a pregnancy. The ovary has an egg reserve. As women age, the ovarian reserve, which represents the quantity and quality of eggs, might gradually diminish. By the time a woman reaches 35, this decline could become more pronounced. However, advancements in reproductive medicine, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), offer via-ble options for conception."
