Early Signs of Pregnancy

Sunday, 17 January 2021 by Anita Gupta
Early Signs of Pregnancy
A few years back I saw a lady with a history of two to four months delay of her menstrual cycles for the last one year, for which I advised her an ultrasound pelvis suspecting her to have PCOD. She was one of those busy corporate women due to which she did not know about Early Signs of Pregnancy and was unable to go for the ultrasound for a couple of months. And finally, after three months when she did get the time for the test, what did the ultrasound show ? Well, she was eight weeks pregnant! She just was not aware of the Pregnancy!

This type of situation is not very common

Some Early Signs of Pregnancy most of the time shows up as an indication of a possible pregnancy. A first and foremost indicative sign is when you miss your menstrual period.
Most of the women are quite aware when they are going to start with their menses. These days you have mobile apps also which calculate for you the expected date for the next menses.
So if you miss your menstrual period for more than five days it could definitely be your first sign of pregnancy. A simple blood test can confirm the pregnancy. And if your menstrual date is up by more than a week then urine can be tested for pregnancy.

Early Signs of Pregnancy Symptoms

Now if we talk of Early Signs of Pregnancy symptoms then some symptoms usually start coming up around three to four weeks from the day of conception or five to six weeks from your last menstrual period. Commonly the lady starts feeling some distaste or dislike for some food items. Some may start liking a particular food which they otherwise used to dislike. Few have a constant bitter taste.
While many want to eat sour or spicy foods like raw mango (as it is or in the form of pickle), gol-guppies, lemon, and similar other things. Few women just do not want to eat anything, they are just not hungry. While some may be hungry the whole day and end up gaining a lot of weight from the early months of pregnancy, while most pregnant ladies start gaining weight from their fourth month. Some may even lose a few kilos in the first three months of pregnancy.

Pick Your Right Gynecologist / Obstetrician in South Delhi

Secondly, a lady who is pregnant might feel tired the whole day then it is Early Signs of Pregnancy. She must just not want to go to work wanting to sleep more or may feel like lying down the whole day.
Around six weeks of pregnancy, nausea with or without vomiting comes up. This could be felt just on waking up, commonly known as morning sickness or it could be a nauseous feeling all through the day.
Rarely there is too much vomiting with the inability to eat or drink anything, as a result leading to the need of visiting a hospital for I/V drip to give fluids. Some blood tests may be needed in these ladies to find out if there is an electrolyte imbalance. Usually, nausea and vomiting reduce once you cross the first three months of your pregnancy.
Some ladies in their early pregnancy are unable to sleep. I have seen pregnant patients who are awake the whole night and this problem may continue throughout the pregnancy. Most of these women do not have a medical problem to justify this lack of sleep.
These are some of the common signs seen during the first three months of pregnancy.
When in doubt, just buy a pregnancy home test kit from a chemist shop and do the test with the first to about Early Signs of Pregnancy, morning urine…or best is visiting a Gynaecologist in South Delhi.

When to Know That You Fall in High Risk Pregnancy Group

Sunday, 03 January 2021 by Anita Gupta
High risk pregnancy group

If you miss your menses date by more than a week, the first thing to check should be pregnancy, do a home test. You get many types of pregnancy checking kits in chemist shops. Buy one and check with the first urine early morning. If positive see a Gynecologist (obstetrician in Delhi) at the earliest.

If your age is more than 35 years (which is quite common these days as women are now career-oriented) then you are a candidate whose pregnancy falls into the high-risk pregnancy group as with advancing age there are more chances of problems for the mother and the baby both. Similarly, if you have got your pregnancy after treatment for infertility or through IVF (test tube baby) then also you come into this group.

Follow the advice of your Gynaecologist sincerely and carefully. Go for regular check-ups. Do all the tests asked for as in these pregnancies some extra tests are needed most of the time. Take all the prescribed medicines regularly

Nutrition in First Trimester of Pregnancy

Monday, 14 December 2020 by Anita Gupta
Nutrition in First Trimester of Pregnancy

It is important to maintain a healthy diet during pregnancy.
Your body needs additional nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and some 300-350 extra calories each day during pregnancy. You should talk to your gynecology doctor during pregnancy.
A diet lacking in nutrients, poor eating habits may lead to some pregnancy problems. Similarly over eating or eating all the wrong things may lead to excess weight gain and may also increase your risk of gestational diabetes.
So choosing a healthy, nutritious diet will help ensure that you and your baby both are healthy.

When A non-medical friend’s daughter, who was eight weeks pregnant ordered spring rolls at a restaurant, another one of my friends reacted as if she had ordered a double whiskey. “You can’t have Chinese food when you’re pregnant!” she shouted! When I asked her why she thinks so, she said she thought that one cannot have Chinese food during pregnancy. Well, then what do Chinese women eat during their pregnancy! Actually, it is ajinomoto in big quantity which cannot be taken, and Chinese food is safe.
Yes, certain foods can lead to pregnancy problems and one should know about them.

From conception onwards, it is very important to have folic acid.
Vitamin D is another important thing needed during pregnancy.
Iron and Calcium along with some minerals is also needed. Protein and fibre in diet is also important.

Legumes are great sources of folate (folic acid), fiber and many other nutrients. Folate is a vitamin that reduces the risk of neural tube defects in the growing baby.
Fruits are a good source of many vitamins and fibre. Fibre helps in reducing the problem of constipation often bothering a pregnant lady.
Green leafy vegetables are a good source of iron. Avocados contain high amounts of fibre, folate and potassium. Potassium helps to relieve leg cramps that are common in pregnant women.
Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of beta-carotene, which is important for the growing fetus.

Whole eggs are a good source of protein (the white part) along with many nutrients in the yellow part. You can have two eggs daily. Chicken and fish give you a lot of protein as does paneer for vegetarians.
Dairy products like milk, yoghurt should be consumed in sufficient quantity as it is a good source of protein and calcium..
Dry fruits like almonds and walnut are good for pregnant women but make sure to limit your portions.

Drinking water is very important during pregnancy. It may also help prevent constipation and urinary tract infections which are comparatively more common during pregnancy.

Some foods are to be avoided during pregnancy.
Raw fish and shell fish, Raw or undercooked meat, and raw eggs must be avoided as they may lead to infection if contaminated.

Pregnant women should limit their caffeine intake to one or two cups of coffee. High caffeine intake during pregnancy is bad. Try to have decaffeinated coffee. Also, reduce tea intake to two to three cups. Green tea should not be taken during pregnancy.

Pregnant women should not drink alcohol as it increases the risk of miscarriage, stillbirth.

In the second and third trimesters the nutrients, iron, and calcium are given in tablet form also along with the good diet.

What is Reason for Feeling Dizziness During Pregnancy?

Saturday, 28 September 2019 by Anita Gupta
Dizziness During Pregnancy

Pregnancy Dizziness: The main cause of dizziness in pregnancy is due to the rising hormones that cause your blood vessels to relax and widen. This helps increase the blood flow to your baby, but it slows the return of the blood in the veins to you. This causes your blood pressure to be lower than usual, which can reduce the blood flow to your brain, temporarily causing dizziness.

Dizziness is also caused by low blood sugar levels that may occur as your body adapts to changes in your metabolism. Women who are anemic or who have varicose veins may be more susceptible to dizziness than others.

During the second trimester, dizziness may be caused because your growing uterus puts pressure on blood vessels.

Dizziness may also occur later in your pregnancy if you lie on your back, allowing the weight of the baby to press on your vena cava (a large vein that carries blood from your lower body to your heart). For the Better advice women should consult with Laparoscopic Surgeon in Delhi.
